Long lost poem…

For about 4 years, John N and I have been searching for this poem we saw on the El. So anyway, the genious found it and I’m going to share it. It’s by John Dickson.

FAME

Of the twenty thousand leaves of the oak tree about twelve thousand were burned,

six thousand rotten on the ground,

two thousand disappeared in the river.

and one was pressed in a book,

pasted on paper,

hung on the kindergarten wall,

and considered by everyone to be

quite a marvelous thing.

Wedding Updates…

I went to try on my wedding dress yesterday and I put it on and it was 2 inches too short! Apparently the manufacturer neglected to add the extra length! The good news is that I caught it in time–they will be able to replace the gown with the correct one before my Aug 31st wedding (yes, I lied to the dress store and it’s a good thing too!).

And I can’t really be too upset about the whole dress thing, yesterday I think I found our wedding rings and bedspread. FK and I just need to check it out together to be srue and then we’re done with that….

Only 70 days to go!!

Updates

Wow, It’s been ages, it seems!

Wednesday: Frank and I went to meet the organist. Not as in livers, but rather as in music. It was amazing! He has 4,444 pipes in the organ and he can really rock!! Hearing the music that I am going to walk down the aisle to gave me chills–how awesome! Frank and I actually bought his CD (oh, okay, two CDs) and listened to them in the car for the rest of the night.

Thursday: Another invitation night. I’m not even going to tell you any more about the invitations because it’s not good for my mental health.

Friday: Girls Night Out!! We went to Famous Dave’s and had some dinner and then hung out and chilled for a while. Lots of fun! Love the girls!!

Saturday: Kimmie came over in the midst of the whole invitation thing part 4. Then we went to Container Store (I could buy EVERYTHING there… seriously…) and after that, Target. What a great time! It wa so great that it could only be followed up by one thing–OBERWEIS!! I love their ice cream so much–but not more than Frank.

Speaking of Frank, Saturday night we had our tasting at Beau Jolie. It was beautiful! Frank’s parents were pleasantly surprised by the hall and the food was fantabulous. We finalized a few things on the menu and ordered the wedding cake. I know this sounds bizarre, but we are having a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and white calla lilies. It should be interesting. I’m not sure how that’s going to look, honestly, but hey, I didn’t really get too caught up in the cake details.

After that we went to Trisha K’s house for some good times at her new pad. Well, it’s not necessarily new-new. It’s just new. She moved in February of this year and this was the first time I’d been there. It was definitely new in February, though, for those of you confused by my writing…

Sunday: Went to small group at church, followed it up with a few hours at IAA. I helped them organize a BBQ that raises funds for a youth aviation thing. No one has food poisoning (yet), so I declare that it was a complete success!!

Tonight Frank and I are going to hang out with our dear friend John N. He is going to throw together a slideshow type deal for our wedding reception. I am definitely looking forward to it! YIPPY!

That’s it, I guess…

Wedding update:

Well, this weekend we printed out 1/2 of our guest list’s envelopes for their invitations. That took ALL frickin’ day. Other than that, smooth sailing, really.

Okay I’m a big liar. There always little details…. sigh, but it will all work out. Only 88 days to go!! 🙂 YAY! I cannot wait to be married to Frank!

Why you gotta be angry all the time??

Being that pre-menstrual time of month, I am just angry today. No reason, really. But seriously, the next person that walks in will either get popped in the nose or will find me a sobbing mess. What is my deal!? I hate this. I always conveniently forget about my period for 2 weeks out of the month. But then, BAM, it hits me. And I ALWAYS wonder what it is. “Wow, why I am an emotional mess!?”

Once someone told me that there was no such thing as PMS. Give me 5 minutes alone with this person and they will be well educated in the ways of PMS.

Wedding Updates

I have my tiara–cuz I’m a princess!! And I have my veil and shoes, too! This weekend, Mom and I are doing the invitations marathon. It’s going to be an all day Saturday kinda thing.

Other Updates

There aren’t any, really. I’ll write more later!

Updates!

Well, I tried to get all this updated stuff together on Friday of last week, but no luck. Blogger freaked out and lost my stuff. So here we go.

Wednesday, June 4–Frank and I had the day off of work and were very productive considering that we were both not feeling very well. The night before we picked up our kitchen table (WE own furniture now!). Then Wednesday morning we shuffled off to Midway to drop off his resume. Then we went to the jewelers to look at wedding rings. That wasn’t as productive as we hoped, but oh well. After a quick Oberweis lunch, we headed to Naperville to begin our apartment search. The first place we looked at smelled soooo awful that I was worried that *I* smelled after we left. Thankfully I smelled no more than usual 🙂 The second place was better than the first, but not necessarily inspiring. The third and final apartment was on a golf course by an excellent train station and I fell in love! That is where we are hoping to rent.

Thursday, June 5–I was feeling better and went to work. Not much exciting.

Friday, June 6–After work we all went to Tammy’s house where we had a fabulous time eating pizza and playing games. One of the best evenings I’ve had in a while!

Saturday, June 7–I went to Frank’s office to get some work done. Unfortunately a student crashed his plane and I couldn’t’ get anything done. I gave Dor a ring and we went to the mall and window shopped for a while. Good times! Then we had a birthday party to attend for one of Frank’s students. It’s funny that Frank’s students are turning 50 in some cases.

Sunday, June 8–We had a premarital seminar. Good times. Then we went to Corner Bakery for dinner and saw the movie Bruce Almighty.

I think that’s it!

Holy Cow–Whata Weekend!

Friday: Came home from work, changed into my Hawaiian attire and headed straight for Holy Family with Frank in tow. The reason? Andrea and Dave G’s wedding rehearsal. Loads of fun were had by all, especially when the tornado sirens started to scream. We later went to Famous Dave’s for some yummy BBQ.

Saturday: I got myself out of bed early and headed for Lombard to pick up Frank. I brought him some OJ and some donuts for the road. I like to make sure that everyone is well fed on road trips. 🙂 We then headed for Roanoke, IL, birthplace of my father. I showed Frank the small town–no stop lights, even–and then surprised my Aunt Ruth Ann, Uncle Mark and my Aunt Renae with a little visit. We chatted for a bit and then had some lunch. After our visit, we hopped back into the car and cruised into Bloomington for Smess and Andy B’s wedding. (Frank’s friends)

The wedding was beautiful! It was in a small church, but it was so packed with meaning and love and happiness that I just about cried a few times. Smess was a BEAUTIFUL bride and you could tell that everyone was so happy for both of them. Smess made these AMAZING invitations, programs and booklets. I was very impressed. We asked her if we could steal some of her great ideas and she said we sure could!

After dinner at the reception, they had swing dance instructors! Frank and I are now world-class swing dancers… well, not really. But we’re on our way!

Sunday: We drove home Saturday night and I dragged my butt out of bed early Sunday so that I could get my hair done and put on make up for Andrea and Dave’s wedding. I had to be at the salon at 8 a.m. CRAZY! After that, we went to Andrea’s house at 11 and started pictures at noon. After pictures, we were whisked off to Holy Family for the ceremony. The ceremony was beautiful and the day turned out to be much better than the rehearsal 🙂

After the ceremony, we did more pictures. And after that, the party began! YAY!!! The best man and I toasted everything we could think of. And Frank and I made new friends–Matt and Jenna! They are getting married December 6th in Orlando. WOOHOO!! They are a very nice couple! Frank and Jenna sat together at the reception and set the bread basket on fire. 🙂

That’s it!

What's up??

So Yeah, total slacker chick over here.

Wedding Updates (since this and work are all that is left of my life)

Saturday: Got the flowers with my mom. I will carry plum mini calla lillies (SOO pretty) and the bridesmaids will carry crystal breath mini calla lillies (also beautiful). We struck out later that day with the invitations, but then hit “gold” on Monday at Hallmark. So all we need to do is the wording and submit it (and the times) & the invitations will be taken care of!

Sunday: Went shopping for bridesmaid dresses and found a beautiful dress at Ann Taylor. It is black with a very ruffly bottom and a cowel neck and spaghetti straps. It will look lovely with an up-do and jewelry. AND it no one needs alterations AND it was on sale!! YAY!

Monday: Found the invitations and negotiated the trolley. I’m getting better at this negotiation thing. I am negotiated him down a respectable chunk of change. As long as I feel good about the negotiations–that’s all that matters, right?

Tuesday: Rested–went to bed at 9 p.m. It was my wedding day off.

Wednesday: Sending out deposit for trolley. Tonight we are going to check out tuxedos for Frank. He will look dashing, I’m sure! 😀

Thursday: Another day of rest.

Friday: FRANK’S BIRTHDAY!!! (I’m working at IAA that day in honor of his golden 23!)

TGIF!

So I bet you’re curious as to what I’ve been doing all week 😀

Wednesday: I watched the series finale of “Dawson’s Creek”. Even though I was never an avid watcher, it symbolizes the end of one part of my life and the beginning of another. It also revealed to me what a wussy I am. I cried from 8p to 9p SOLID. It was cleansing, though.

Thursday: Frank picked me up from the train in West Chicago and then proceeded to score MANY good boyfriend brownie points by going with me to the Great Indoors to look at bedding and furniture. Who’s a good boy?? Then we went back to my house so I could change and we grabbed a quick bite to eat. Then we headed off to see The Matrix. The movie was pretty good, although slightly long and it ended in one of the world’s biggest cliffhangers ever! ::Sigh:: I guess we’ll have to see Matrix 3 in November.

Friday: Tonight is my sorority’s formal!! YAY! I wonder who will win the most coveted honor our sorority has: Most Perverted!! 😀

That’s all for now!

Weekend Updates:

Frank and I had a great time hanging out with Anthony and Laura–even though the conversation did wind up running aground in politics and religion. ::Sigh::

Saturday I went to IAA to get some work done on the Newsletter (Will this thing ever go away!?) and then I met up with Dorothy for a little lunch and then a little shoppy shoppy. 🙂 After that, I went home and took care of thank you notes and a few other things around the house before we saw my brother’s band play in the battle of the bands.

Can I tell you that my brother is just too cool? He has GROUPIES! These girls made their own band tee-shirts (Les Harvard is the name of the band) and screamed and jumped throughout the entire performance. I think it also helped that his band is actually very good–Frank and I loved watching them play. It’s exciting to see my brother “rocking out” on stage. I must tell you that the lead singer of his band is every bit of them “rock star” that my dad told me he was. He definitely has stage presence!

After the battle of the bands, Frank and I went to see XMen2–which I thought was great!! I wish I had Rebecca Romajn-Stamos’ body (Spelling?). Yikes!

Yesterday we went to my aunt’s house for Mother’s Day where we ate lots of yummy food. Then we went back to my house where Frank and I passed out for an hour and a half. We finished off the evening watching the movie “Singles”.

Upcoming Wedding Stuff:

This week we are interviewing the photographer, the florist and finding invitations. Crazy!!

Bye for now!

Birth Control…

Now I’m wondering if it’s my birth control that is ruining my appetite. Last month when I first started it, I was having hunger issues. And it does say on the package that it might cause nausea (sp?). At least I’m doing this now than later when Frank and I are married.

Hm. I got nothin’. Tonight I’m going to go out with Frank, Anthony and Miss Laura P. I think we are playing pool and the doing something else. I wonder if Frank remembers that I suck at pool…

Tomorrow I am going to IAA to work on their newsletter (so help me, I have to get this out the door) and then to lunch with Dor. Tomorrow night we are going to see my brother play in battle of the bands.

Why My Dad is Glad He’s Not Going

My dad is glad that Frank and I are going in his place because, quite frankly, he’s not sure Andy’s band will make it through one set, much less one song. Apparently the personality conflicts in this hot up and coming boy band are enough to bring the whole gig down. The lead singer already thinks he’s a rockstar. Never mind that they practice in my uncle’s garage, far from most of humanity. This guy thinks he’s got it goin’ on. My dad says that’s what all rockers think–that’s why they can get up every time they sing and rock out. In their minds, they are Mr. or Ms. Thang.

Aside from their risen star, my brother also contends with Mr. Ego who also dukes it out with Mr. Rockstar. My cousin and my brother just watch them argue, neither helping nor hurting the situation.

Anyway, wish him luck! This could be interesting 🙂

My dad says that he’d be too nervous to stand in the audience, holding his breath, praying that by some
