Love, Babies and How the Former Can Sometimes Make the Latter

… and boys and girls, please, remember, birth control is YOUR FRIEND.

Thank you.

So anyway, I thought I would drop that in there since I was just reading my brother’s band’s website and these teens were discussing birth control on the message board. Apparently the band members (this, sadly, includes my darling brother), are well versed in birth control and we needn’t worry about them.

Thank God. Wait until I tell Mom….

Speaking of birth control in all of its glory–I went to Erin & John’s wedding on Saturday. Actually, I was in their wedding. I have to say, it was absolutely a fantastic wedding! Everyone loves their own wedding, but their wedding made me want to get married all over again. Or, at least, have another big party! woohoo!!! Aside from the other Maid of Honor (as a married hag, I was MATRON of Honor) blacking out at the altar (ladies, let’s keep those knees LOOSE!), the day went off with only one hitch: the bride and groom (cue cheesy laughter). See, they got hitched… hitch? hitched??! Ha!

Erin’s dress was beautiful–scoop neckline with beading on the bodice and a chapel length train. It was ivory and absolutely stunning! She had her hair up in a MASS of curls (if you know Erin, you know she has 5xs the average amount of hair on her head) with a beautiful crystal crown. I’d say tiara, but there was just so much sparkle, it was definitely a crown!

They had SO much food at their wedding, too! Oh my gosh–we just ate and ate and ate! They served appetizers, soup, salad, pasta, filet AND chicken, twice baked potato, vegetables, international coffee service, chocolate mousse, cake and a sweet table. HOLY COW–I have never eaten so much! 😀 Well, maybe I have, but this just tasted so good!!

At our wedding, our DJ forgot the music for our first dance. It was tragic because Frank and I worked hard to choreograph our first dance and then–woosh–no song! eeek. At Erin’s wedding, the DJ had our song and we danced our dance to it before the other guests arrived. It was very happy! 🙂

So this weekend I am going to run down to visit my sister in St. Louis for a couple of days. I can’t wait to see her!!! I LOVE HER!!! EH EH EH EH!

Okay, gotta be productive… must go get some lunch!!

It's coooooold out there!

… And this is just the beginning!

Last weekend we had Thanksgiving (first to FK’s house then to my house). We followed that up with a little birthday party and washed it down with some church–yippy!

This weekend is my dearest friend Erin’s wedding–oh my gosh! After 2.5 years of engagement, they are FINALLY going to tie the knot! I cannot wait! 😀 YAY FOR ERIN AND JOHN!!!

Manic Mondays, oooohwoooooo

Hello. Today is Monday. I don’t think I like Mondays much. They are a necessary evil, I do know that. But as necessary as they are, they are still not fun.

This weekend was good–I went out to the apple orchard with Kelly H and Kim Y. We bought apple donuts, cider and a few other things. I think it was worth the sort of long trek out there. Then we came back to Naperville and went to the Fox Valley mall. It’s a nice mall. Not as good as Woodfield. It is covered, which is better than Oak Brook, but it lacks a certain je ne sais quois. My top 5 malls:

5. Stratford Square

4. Oak Brook

3. Fox Valley

2. Woodfield

1. Deer Park

I realize that this list covers a huge geographic region, but there you have it. I put Deer Park as 1 because it has every store that I LOVE to go to. Gap, J Crew, Banana, Ann Taylor and Victoria’s Secret–even though I don’t shop at all those stores all the time. Plus, as far as outdoor malls go, it is relatively small and therefore easier to get around. Plus, it’s not usually too hard to find parking there. And since it doesn’t have as much traffic, as say a behemoth like Woodfield, there are usually good size ranges available for sales. I would say that Woodfield comes in #2 simply because you need serious time to dedicate to going to Woodfield. Since I know where everything is, I know where to park, but if you come in the wrong door on the wrong level, it could tack on a few minutes. It definitely beats out Oak Brook and Fox Valley. Even though Oak Brook does have some high end stores–such as Mark Shale–Woodfield has a greater number of stores and is indoor. See, if I’m going to shop for a broad range of people, I prefer to be warm in the winter and cool in the summer. If I have my own agenda for me, Oak Brook is great. Fox Valley is a new place for me to shop at and it beats out Oak Brook primarily based on proximity to my current location. It also has some good anchor stores–Marshall Fields, JC Penny. WAIT A MINUTE… Oak Brook beats out Fox Valley. I just remembered that Oak Brook has a Crate and Barrel that has the Home Store included–very good. Sorry, Fox, you just got bumped. So now my list looks like this:

5. Stratford Square

4. Fox Valley

3. Oak Brook

2. Woodfield

1. Deer Park

Lastly is Stratford Square. I like the mall, but it’s not my favorite. It barely makes the top 5. As a matter of fact, if I remember another mall I like better, I’ll have to bump it.

Wait–actually, I like the Champaign mall. It’s very nice for a rural (well, Champaign isn’t rural… but the area around it is…) mall and has a decent food court and bathrooms. It’s a nice place to go if you have to chill for a few minutes. My list is now:

5. Champaign Mall

4. Fox Valley

3. Oak Brook

2. Woodfield

1. Deer Park

Ladies and Gentlemen! The Fast Train is now boarding!! First stop–Party Town USA!!!

Well, this weekend is going to be one party after another–starting today! My office has become Halloween central–every floor is decorated and there is Candy Galore. At 3pm there is a party and a Haunted Trail. It’s like being in first grade all over again!

Tomorrow Frank’s office is having a party at his boss’s house. There will be more food, more drinking and lots of fun!! WOOWOO!! I don’t know what I’m going to be for Halloween–perhaps my darling husband will kindly pick out an outfit for me??

Saturday some of Frank’s friends are getting married. They are actually getting married at the same church that Frank and I were married at–but they are getting married in the garden chapel area. It will be beautiful! After that we are going to the reception.

Sunday we are going to church and then after I am going to the Pastor’s brunch because I am going to join Christ Church and become a member. YAY!

So thats the weekend in a nutshell!

~Jaze & KP-Izzle~

The plans are coming together–rah! Jaze–do you want to put together an evite or would you like me to? And what days are good for you guys? Also, I can’t do the weekend of the 15th because I am booked solid (except Friday the 14th which I still need to clear with my darling husband–hereafter referred to as DH).

Why I love my Husband.

And why I will never call him Hubby. Frank is cooking dinner tonight (can I get an “awww!”??) and I just think that is the best thing in the whole world. I can’t wait! He’s just too phenomenal!!

As for Hubby. Hubby is a word that makes me think of Jenny Jones. Jenny Jones and any sort of yuppy-ish 1980’s sitcom. Jenny, Jerry and Ricki all use the word Hubby in show titles such as in: Hubby is sleeping with the Nanny who’s name is Tom. And: What to do when your Hubby is a Slacker. I’ve also heard the term hubby used on sitcoms, but I just don’t know which ones. But I’m sure it has. And so for those two reasons, it became trashy in my mind. It makes me cringe, actually.

Jaze

Whassup, Jamie-babe? I was so excited to see all of your updates, although I wasn’t too pleased about the spider scenario from the other morning. NOT cool. EW EW EW. ANd to think of how your platform sandals must have suffered!

KP

Hi! Thanks for coming out with us on Friday–even if it was kinda lame! You’re babe-licious!

Jaze and KP:

Girls night? And is there anyone else who’s up for it????

Monday, Monday

You know, reading the word Monday just now made me think of several things. First of all, if it was French, it would be Lundi. But it’s not, it’s American. But if the first 1/2 of the American word were based on French, then Mon would mean “my” and then day would just be day. And then today would be my day. Which it is clearly not since here I am, living it up at work.

Also, when I studied the word Monday as one would study art, I thought, “Monday doesn’t look foreboding and sad and like a rude buzz kill in the midst of one fine party.” Instead Monday looks sweet yet succinct. If you roll the word around on your tongue, it seems soft and rounded, not harsh and painful. Monnnnnnnday. Mmmmmmmmmmmmooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnndaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy. It’s actually quite a pleasure to say. mmmmmmmmmmmmm. oooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnn. daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. Good stuff.

But here is the truth about Monday. She is all dressed up, looking cute on paper. The reality? She zaps you of any good time you might be having and kicks your butt when the alarm goes off at 5:30 am.

Friday, alternately, makes me think of fried foods. Friday should be a day where everything (cats, too) should be dumped into a vat of oil and fried like no one’s business. Yet Mardi Gras (fat Tuesday)–the day where you fry everything and eat crap is–as the name suggests–typically celebrated on a Tuesday. Tuesday is a day that really sounds rough. If you are going to receive a severe beating, migraine, bad news, etc–that should occur on a Tuesday. Tooooz day. Tooooooozzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz daaaaaaaay. It’s a day that looks short but drags on forever. And Wednesday. People should get married on Wednesdays. First because “Wed” is in the word. Second because it’s a long long word (well, by day of the week standards). Marriage should also be long. And Wednesday is a day that makes you wonder if there is ever any end to the week. I think people who have been married for a long time wonder if there is ever any end to the monotony of marriage. Also, if your marriage follows Tuesday, the day of badness, then Wednesday is BOUND to be the happiest day of your life. Or at least of your week so far.

Thursday. Thuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrzzzzzzzzzday. Sounds drunk. All good weekends begin on Thursday and end with the awful, sock in the mouth Monday morning–further prooving that Monday sounds much nicer than it really is. Thursday sounsd like Slursday. Which is what you do when drinking too much, but having a good time.

Saturday. No complaints on that day. On Saturday, if you’re lucky, you can say you sat around. Sat-your-day. Or at least had the option to do that. Perhaps you Sat-your-day in a bar. Or maybe you Sat-your-day at a college football game. Who knows. Who cares? It’s your day! rah!

Sunday. Sonday. This is the day typically reserved for the Son of God. And God. It is also a day that reminds you that while you’re in church, at a family function or sleeping in–you are probably missing the sun. Unless you are at a football game or something fun. Sunday. The only thing that could ruin a Sunday is Monday. How appropriate. You have God’s day. Then your day (Monday–if you follow my half English/half French translation.) And that brings me to Monday. Which is where I am.

Welcome to Monday.

Friday I went to Lincoln Park with Frank, Stacie D and Kate A. Good times. Then Saturday I had lunch with Jennie W and then dinner with Laura P. And Sunday we went to church, lunch with Frank’s parents and then we slept for a very long time.

Rah. Is it time for a nap yet??

Quick Update…

I have to run to a meeting in a few minutes, but here is a lowdown on my weekend (just in case someone reads my blogs…) Yesterday was our 1 month anniversary!!! YAY!

Friday Frank and I saw Intolerable Cruelty with Catherine Zeta and my baby George C. After that we went to dinner at Luigi’s on Rt.59 and then back home. Lovely night.

Saturday I had brunch with Katy S at Cracker Barrel. Then I put together a few things for Frank’s career fair at SIUC for his work. After that, I went home and put together dinner and we ate around 7:30ish. Craig and Jamie invited us up to see their townhouse. IT IS AMAZING! WOW! A world of difference since Jamie moved in–very clean, new room arrangements and furniture–overall, just awesome!! WOOHOO!!

Sunday I made pancakes and Frank had to fly off to SIU C for his career fair thing with work. Then I did some shopping, washed my car, went to church and came home for the night.

That’s it!! Gotta go!

Whiners!

Okay, so yeah. I whined to Jamie that she wasn’t giving me enough to read on her blogger and then SHE goes and points out that *I* have not updated mine since MONDAY. Well, hrmph! I thought I had. Darn it.

This week was pretty good. It’s amazing how quickly I have figured out Frank’s little habits. In the morning I know that he gets up, showers and gets dressed in the closet (towel on the floor of closet: Clue #1). Then he strolls out to the kitchen and makes his breakfast. He either reads a magazine at the table (open magazine on table: Clue #2) or watches TV (TV left on Comedy Central: Clue #3). Then he rinses out his bowl and puts it in the sink and is on his merry way. None of these things bothers me, but it paints a pretty clear picture of his morning, which makes me smile. In the morning, as a way of saying, “I love you”, he makes the bed. He also takes the trash out if there is any–also another sweet gesture. Frank is a great husband–he does laundry when needed, washes dishes, cleans the bathroom–all in all, a delight! Today he’s going grocery shopping! I tell you, once you’re married, there isn’t anything sexier than a man who says, “I’ll go to Dominick’s for you, baby!” Aw!

Tonight Frank and I are hanging out with the Gs. That should be fun! Tomorrow Frank and I have the day off and we are going to get dressed, eat b’fast and then come home and nap. Then we are going to get some shoes (we both need running shoes) and then we are going to do other useful, yet relaxing, errands. Ahhh!

Hope all is well! This blog has been dedicated to Jamie B–Thanks for updating yours! Now I have something to do at work!!!

Like the duck…

John N had a saying that I am pretty sure he stole from somewhere. The saying was: The key is to be like the duck, smooth and unruffled on top but paddling furiously underneath. That is what I am trying to be right now. My tummy is just bouncing off the wall, I am alternately excited, crabby, anxious, happy, sad, giddy… and on down the line!

Frank is absolutely, hands down, the most awesome guy in the world and I am soooo lucky! I cannot wait to marry him!

Only FOUR days to go… I can hardly stand it!!!
