I'm Lovin' It

Saturday, October 16, Dorothy & Erik were married at 3pm at St. Zachery’s church. Then we partied hardy at Beau Jolie!

YAY DOROTHY & ERIK!!! 😀

The ceremony & reception were beautiful. It took 2 yrs, but they are finally married. HOORAH!

I gotta go snuggle with my own dear darling. See ya!

Milwaukee Loves Us…

Well, just to recount what has happened here in Milwaukee since Frank & I moved here:

1. Bomb threat at the Milwaukee Federal Building – suspect is arrested and held without bail.

2. Brewers sold.

3. 2 power lines are tampered with and subsequently collapse onto the Amtrak lines that go to Chicago. The collapsed power lines cut off power to the airport where all security equipment is shut down and huge lines form as each individual is hand searched. Turns out someone took out a few necessary bolts from the base of the towers.

4. The Packers are now 1 – 4, their worst start to a season since 1991. I was only 11 then. Hm.

Maybe we left Chicago in time for the Bears to have a decent season… I need to check out their stats… Hmm, just checked out the Bears stats. Guess the good news is that they aren’t doing a whole lot better than the Packers. That somehow makes me feel better. Phew.

Yay!!

So Frank and I now have DSL at our apartment and my computer has a wireless connection so now I am totally mobile! yeehaw! I’m one happy girlie!

In other news, for the first time in the history of our marriage, Frank and I are having a lazy Saturday. We have just been sort of doing things here and there around the house. Frank has been playing his computer game and I have been going through recipe books looking for recipes for a baby shower I’m hosting for Frank’s sister, Kathryn.

Yay!!!

You know you're old when…

… you don’t read the jokes on the laffy taffy wrappers. And you’re even older when you DO read them and then shake your head disdainfully.

Here I am, nearly 8pm on a Tuesday night. My husband, bless his soul, is out at the Safehouse in Milwaukee while I am still at work. And I will probably be here for another hour or so. At least.

The good news is: I like my job and I like the people and I am not overtired (yet) as I would have been if I was still in Chicago with my loooong commute.

The bad news is: they have a candy jar here and I LOVE it. UGH! There is even an upscale candy station on the 5th floor with DOUBLE STUFF OREO COOKIES! I NEED to find my self-control! I have none! eeeeek!!!

Otherwise, life in Milwaukee is fantastic. I get to see my husband (for now, at least), we live in a very cute apartment and my job is interesting and rewarding. At least for working these hours, my director is going to try to get me a few more days off this year. YEEHAW!

So, the net-net is, Life is Good.

We're HERE!!

Yep! We’ve moved into the good ole town of Milwaukee!

The town is nice, but can’t seem to locate the grocery store for the life of me. Have a feeling that work is going to SUCK THE LIFE out of me. Hm. Good stuff.

Hope everyone is having a great week! More later!

Movin'

Well, we are moving to Milwaukee in less than a week and we are mostly packed up and ready to go. It’s crazy because I can’t believe that we are really going – it feels so surreal. It hasn’t really hit me yet. We’re going to have to get new license plates, new drivers’ licenses, revise our insurance, and all that. It’s quite an undertaking to move out of state. But, I’m excited. We signed our lease on Friday and our apartment is cute, but hardly a place to settle down in for longer than a year. We are thinking that if we like downtown a lot, we’ll try to find a condo downtown. THere are some really cute condo’s on the river. That would be pretty cool.

Today is also our 1 year wedding anniversary. Last night Mom made a delicious dinner for us: prime rib, corn on the cob, garlic bread, salad, cranberries, applesauce, etc. THEN! As if that wasn’t awesome enough, Mom also had a replica of our wedding cake (chocolate fudge with chocolate fudge frosting). I didn’t remember how good our cake was, but i had some last night and it was AWESOME. SOOOO GOOD! 😛

Frank and I spent today packing, as I mentioned, and then we went to church. Our church is starting a young married couples group and they had a BBQ today, so we went. It was sad because the group is going to be awesome and we’re going to be in Milwaukee. Bummer!

I am not looking forward to tomorrow because I think it’s going to stink. I have a feeling it’s going to be rough. I sense that I will be at work for a LONG time.

Ugh. UGH.

Congratulations, Frank!

Well, Frank passed his oral exam with flying colors! Good job, Frank! Today he had one final, day-in-the-life-of simulator class and tonight he’s coming home. Thank goodness-I missed him A TON while he was gone!!

So, 9/24 will be my last day at my current job and then right away, I start up at my new job in Milwaukee on 9/27. YAY! I’m excited for the move and the new position.

WOOHOO!

Movin' to Milwaukee

Well, it’s official, we’re movin’ to Milwaukee! I got an offer from an agency up there and we were approved for our apartment, so off we go!

I am terribly nervous about giving my notice on Monday, but once I gt through that, it shouldn’t be too bad… I hope.

Fantastic Weekend!

Frank and I had just the best time together on our little mid-week weekend. We enjoyed the Signature Room & the massages & the park & Blue Man Group… but most of all, we just had a fabulous time together. I miss being around him when he’s not here. He is just my best friend in the whole world!! It has been difficult when he hasn’t been home, but I make it without a whole lot of thought because I”m just so busy. But when I see him, I just don’t want him to ever leave again… and then he does… but ::sigh:: what did I expect when I married a pilot?? 😉

Life as We Know It

So Frank and I went to the apartments we liked and applied. Then two hours later, the chick from the place called & said that the one we applied for was gone, but guess what–they have a smaller one for the same price. Nuh uh. So Frank negotiated until the girl gave in and gave us 1/2 off on parking, free storage and waived the app fee. So now it’s a much cheaper apartment. Woohoo!

Now all we have to do is get approved for the apartment & move in & find me a job. Whew!

I’m so excited!!!
