I have not forgotten…

I could start out this blog saying, “Oh, I’m such a bad, bad, terrible human being for not updating my blog–oh, my poor fans that read this blog loyally, I have disappointed you. I am not worthy, I am NOT worthy!”

But, eh, I’ve been busy. It’s a wonder that I have managed to change my clothes. 🙂

Well, as I have mentioned before, I was rotated to a new client, which has its ups and downs. I am not sure that I am too enamored with my new boss, but I think I can work past it.

I was struggling (and still am, a little bit) with God’s design for my life. I think that right now, this is what God has given me and I should do it with “gusto” as a friend put it, and use this time to figure out what I am good at and what I am not good at. It’s not exactly morale building to work so hard for so little monetary reward, but with any luck, a promotion is in my not-so-distant future. Hopefully I’ll be ready for one in less than a year, but I’m not holding my breath. My employer has been taking longer and longer to put through promotions 😦

Frank and I are doing exceptionally well. We laugh a lot, every day, in spite of our sometimes overwhelming schedules and stressful jobs. Frank inspires me to work hard and keep going… and I inspire Frank to clean. It’s a beautiful relationship. Actually, I was telling Jamie the other night that I am fairly impressed with Frank’s cleanliness. (although, if you saw the state of our apartment right now, you would NOT be impressed… oy)

I think that we have decided to renew our lease at our current apartment. The deal on the renewal is far better than what we could get anywhere else, so it makes sense to stick it out and avoid moving costs, etc. Plus, who has time to go apartment hunting right now??? We’ve got bigger fish to fry, I tell you.

What’s coming up…

Frank’s birthday is this weekend and we are going to see his all-time favorite cover band, Mike & Joe. Frank Fest 2004 should be lots of fun 🙂

Friday night is Erik P’s birthday, so we are swinging up to their new home to celebrate and part-ay–yay! Can’t wait!

OUtside of that, I plan on sleeping in on Sunday, taking a leisurely stroll to Starbucks and possibly making Frank some of my famous pancakes (hee hee–I just buy a bag of the pancake mix from Cracker Barrel–they’re yum, so who cares that they’re not from scratch? I make sure to include a slice of love in every batch… 😉 )

Jessica Simpson

I have to tell you–I’m obsessed with her. I want to BE her. Is that sick? Wrong? Both???? Sometimes, when Frank and I are putzing around the apartment, I pretend that we are Nick and Jessica… 😉 “Oh, Frank, of course we need million dollar sheets!” Ha. ha. Sometimes I practice my dance moves for him, too.

Me: So this is the Funky Frog Hoppity Hop move I’m using in my song and dance Friday.

Frank: Um. Yeah.

Me: Hoppity Hoppity, jump froggy, jump!

Frank: You’re blocking the TV.

Me: Whatever! Don’t come crying to me when your solo album bombs!

Frank: Huh?

So yeah–the reason this comes up is because I was looking at Michelle B’s blogger and she had pics of Jessica and I was inspired.

There you have it, folks. I’m crazy.

Frank is So Smart!!!

My husband is not only incredibly attractive, hilariously funny and amazingly suave–it turns out he’s a genius too! Last night he told me about a site called the DrudgeReport.com. This site features breaking news before it even gets to the networks! Holy cow! It’s fantastic!

For example, this morning they have an article on a White House memo that hasn’t even been released to the public yet!

Frank–you’re awesome. Everyone else–check out the website! CLICK HERE!

What's goin' on this weekend

This weekend shouldn’t be as action-packed as previous weekends. We’re going to a movie night at Dave & Andrea G’s house on Friday. I’m making my famous (infamous??) baked brie. Frank should be very happy–both of us could eat half a brie wheel each. Ugh. Bad for the waistline.

Saturday I have ground school. I am a terrible future pilot, I have to admit–I hope I pass!!! After that, we are driving to lovely Champaign-Urbana to see Entertainment Night at Frank’s old college church. This year I don’t think Frank has plans to perform (thank goodness), so it should be a laid-back night full of laughs. 🙂

I’m not sure what we’re doing Sunday, but church is definitely included.

Mmmm…

That’s it, I think.

Things at work are better, I’ve calmed down a lot, which is good. I wouldn’t have made it through that time without God and Frank (I know some of you get confused–they are not one in the same 😉 ) and my family and friends. So yeah. As I find more quotes that I want to post, I’ll throw them up on this board.

What's Keeping Me Together

It has been a rough week–what has been holding me together is my husband and God.

Jeremiah 29:11-14

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD , “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the LORD , “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the LORD , “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.”

Home again!

Well, we’re back in Chicago, but the weather is at least warm (though wet) and I can’t complain about that! We spent a long weekend in San Francisco, seeing as much as we could with Frank’s parents. They are AWESOME tour guides. It’s as though they have lived there all this time! Dr. K even knew the birthday of Joe The Shoe Shine Guy–how crazy is that??!

San Fran is gorgeous and interesting–modern and vintage at the same time. The cable cars that go up and down the hills are from all over the country–some from Chicago even! Whatever everyone else has cast off as old, they make new and unique again. How fun is that??? And the shops are just interesting and the people watching is fantastic! They have beautiful flower markets and intriguing peace protests and lovely sunny weather. San Francisco is quite the treat!

Here I am, though, back in Chicago. HURRAH! 🙂

Job Confusion….

Job Confusion….

So yeah, after all of this back and forth, some of you must be wondering where the heck I stand on my job situation. Do I like it? Do I hate it?

You know what? I don’t know. I think I like it … but then again… There are things I love, things I hate. Right now, I’m hating the hours.

Most Romantic-ist Husband Ever.

Frank has driven down to Chicago to pick me up from work twice this week, done all the grocery shopping, taken care of the taxes and is battling the NPD over a parking ticket I got at the train station after I couldn’t get the bills to go in the slot. It was quite dramatic–the machine wouldn’t even suck my dollar in to read it and then spit it out. As I was trying to jam money and bills in the machine, my train pulled up. I decided not to stick around and miss my train, so I ran down the tunnel, up the stairs on the other side and BARELY made my train. So anyway, got a $15 ticket. Blast it.

So anyway, Frank has been taking care of both of our lives for the past week and today he is cleaning the house and doing laundry. Do husbands REALLY come any better than this??? I doubt not! He always asks what he can do and doesn’t complain or whine. It’s fantastic!! He is just the super-duperist guy ever! 😀

Yay for good guys!

work still

I don’t feel like I left work this weekend.

All I gotta say is that thank God we are going out of town this weekend because I think I would lose it if I was still here.

I am sooooo stressed. BUT! I will make it.

Hurrah. Thank goodness for Frank. 🙂

Noises My Body DOESN'T Make Any More

Okay, so I was just thinking about this. Back when I weighed a lot more than I do now, my right foot actually made a loud snapping sound when I walked. Now when I walk, it’s just the pitter-patter of my not-so-little feet. Go Emily!

The Week in Review

I have been pretty busy, actually.

Monday: Worked, came home… hm, my mind is a blank. Let’s try Tuesday.

Tuesday: Worked, came home… hm… also a blank on this one. But I just remembered that Monday Frank and I watched Average Joe. But I can’t remember what happened on Tuesday.

Wednesday: The client was in on Tuesday and left on Wednesday, so BIG sigh of relief. Frank found out that he had a flight with a company up in Waukegan (hurrah!) and that was pretty exciting. I tried to do some Ground School Homework–but then Frank came home early and we were both tired and went to bed.

Thursday: Frank had his flight, which was good. He got up at 4 am to make it up there and then he worked until 7 ish. So it was a very long day for him. I worked a full day (as usual) and came home to do my Ground School Homework and watch a little Thursday Must See TV.

Friday: Tonight Frank and I are going to a bar to celebrate one of the traffic reporter’s birthdays.

Saturday: Tomorrow, my little sister in my sorority (AOII! HURRAH!) is running for Homecoming Queen. Hopefully she will be crowned at tomorrow’s big dance! Frank and I are going to that 🙂

Sunday: Whew. Is this the day of rest or did I miss it?

We're Home!

We had a fantastic time on Paradise Island–so much fun! The island was beautiful, the accommodations were lovely and the rest and relaxation was much needed. We walked along the beach, built sand castles, laid out in the sun, ate and drank lots (too much, actually) and just enjoyed being together.

The resort we stayed at, Club Med, is a French company. All the signs and announcements were both in French and English. It was great!

I’d write more–but very swamped at work.

More later!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NICOLE S AND MICHELLE B!
