A case of the Mondays….

Well, I don’t actually have a case of the Mondays. I just thought of Office Space and that line. Hee hee. The weekend was nice.

Friday, the Gs came over and we ate some Chicken Marsala that I made. Very proud of myself for that. Then we sat on the porch and drank wine and had some pie. Very good!

Saturday Frank and I took care of a few chores and took a nap and had breakfast together. Then in the afternoon we saw my brother’s marching band compete at Prospect H.S. They took 2nd in AA Class. Awesome! After that, we went to dinner with my mom, dad and some of their friends at Bob Chinn’s Crab House in Wheeling. What a fantastic dinner! We were quite tired and pretty much collapsed in bed when we came home Saturday night.

Sunday Frank went to work early to fly a long trip. Kelly H came over and we drove up to Great America for a day of Fright Fest–woohoo!!! Then Frank and I had some Jimmy John dinner and wrote thank you notes. Who doesn’t love that???

It was a pretty nice weekend. I did miss not going to church. Hm.

I hope everyone else had a great weekend! And Jamie, no–it is you that rocks. Woohoo! You updated again on Friday–that is just too exciting!! Now we just have to get Jane to update…..

Whiners!

Okay, so yeah. I whined to Jamie that she wasn’t giving me enough to read on her blogger and then SHE goes and points out that *I* have not updated mine since MONDAY. Well, hrmph! I thought I had. Darn it.

This week was pretty good. It’s amazing how quickly I have figured out Frank’s little habits. In the morning I know that he gets up, showers and gets dressed in the closet (towel on the floor of closet: Clue #1). Then he strolls out to the kitchen and makes his breakfast. He either reads a magazine at the table (open magazine on table: Clue #2) or watches TV (TV left on Comedy Central: Clue #3). Then he rinses out his bowl and puts it in the sink and is on his merry way. None of these things bothers me, but it paints a pretty clear picture of his morning, which makes me smile. In the morning, as a way of saying, “I love you”, he makes the bed. He also takes the trash out if there is any–also another sweet gesture. Frank is a great husband–he does laundry when needed, washes dishes, cleans the bathroom–all in all, a delight! Today he’s going grocery shopping! I tell you, once you’re married, there isn’t anything sexier than a man who says, “I’ll go to Dominick’s for you, baby!” Aw!

Tonight Frank and I are hanging out with the Gs. That should be fun! Tomorrow Frank and I have the day off and we are going to get dressed, eat b’fast and then come home and nap. Then we are going to get some shoes (we both need running shoes) and then we are going to do other useful, yet relaxing, errands. Ahhh!

Hope all is well! This blog has been dedicated to Jamie B–Thanks for updating yours! Now I have something to do at work!!!

Love and Marriage.

Well, here we are, married for over 2 weeks now. We are still writing thank you notes and organizing our apartment. Thanks to years of collecting items we simply cannot let go and very generous friends and relatives, we have a lot of stuff to squeeze into our apartment. Normally I would be all up in Frank’s face about what a disaster the “Staging Area” is (nickname for our 2nd bedroom/office/mess), but there is so much to do, I have put off fixing up the 2nd bedroom until we finish thank you notes, clean out his bedroom in Antioch, organize the China and preserve my wedding dress. Did I mention that the holidays are next month?? And then one of my dearest friends ever is getting hitched in December? Followed by more holidays??? Oh goodness!!!

Anyway, this marriage thing is pretty decent.

Friday: Frank and I came home from work. Frank actually picked me up at the train and took me home. The pizza arrived and we ate pizza, listened to music and talked. After dinner, we wrote thank you notes and watched Romeo + Juliet (the newer version) and went to bed. It was a lovely night.

Saturday: We woke up and drove to Frank’s work. I dropped him off and went up to my parents’ house. They weren’t there. (Not entirely surprising–very busy people!) I had some shopping to do and then I needed to get home and get dinner started because Craig and Jamie were coming over for dinner. Craig and Jamie arrived a little late (thank goodness! I was running behind!) We had a nice dinner, drank some marguritas (Nice job, Frank and Craig on the margaritas!! Turns out they are lovely floor polishes as well!) and then watched the video of our wedding. Woohoo!

Sunday: I went to church with the in-laws. Afterward we had a light lunch together. They are nice to talk to and I enjoy spending time with them. Then I drove up to my parents’ house again, this time they were there. We chatted and then Dad and Andy-the-stud helped me move some more of my stuff out of the house.

Frank was supposed to be home around 5 or 6, but around 6:30 (when he finally got signal on his cell!), he called to tell me that he was going to be WAY late. Turns out he didn’t get home from his trip until 10pm!! Poor guy! He hasn’t had a day off since we came home from the honeymoon 😦

What is so nice about the marriage thing is that we might be busy, but we still get to see each other more than we did before.

Let’s see… I think that’s all for me for now!

Weekend Updates!

Saturday I found THE dress. As in MY wedding gown!! I am sooo thrilled! We went to Volle’s Bridal in Lake Zurich and I tried on a couple dozen dresses. I put THE dress on and immediately felt like a princess! I’m so excited!

It’s weird how the reality of marriage comes on in spurts. When I picked out the dress, it became even more real for me. And then this weekend someone gave Frank and I coasters for our apartment with the letter K on them. In a few short months, I will have a new last name–how crazy is that!?

We also had our engagement party. I met a lot of Frank’s family and his parent’s friends. More than a few little old ladies called him “Franky”–and each time it was followed by, “Only Mrs. So-and-so can call him Franky.” Very cute!

Other than that, I had a pretty relaxing weekend. I had coffee (well, I don’t drink coffee so I had hot cocoa) with a girl from my small group on Saturday.
