Well, good news/bad news.
Good news: the follicle (one) grew.
Bad news: it’s only 12mm (barely). It needs to be at least 18mm for the doctor to rupture the follicle and perform IUI.
I am trying to be positive, but it’s a bit disheartening. I know God has a plan, and I am confident in that. I just need to be hopeful that it will work out, but be prepared for it not to. Two such extremes, I know.
Please keep praying because the fact that the follicle grew is great! It just needs to grow a little bit faster. It would have been much worse – the follicles could have shrunk… that wouldn’t have been very hopeful at all.
More on this, I am sure, at a later time. Thanks so much for all of your prayers!
On a side note: Frank and I are starting to try a more organic diet. Anyone have suggestions on this??
I buy organic whenever I see it, but I don’t notice it much. I want to buy more organic food, I just gotta get into it more and start seeking organic foods out. The only thing I’ve heard is to look up the qualifications for our state to call something organic. Some places, even something labeled “organic” could still have used some pesticides. I believe to be organic, you need to be certified, so make sure whatever you buy is certified (hence the state having qualifications) Let me know what you find out or where you shop. I think Valli sells organic, but we don’t have one close by.
I’ve heard of a few good places to shop in the area. I am not a huge fan of Valli, but I do like it for the produce, so I might try to make more of an effort to go there. Let me know if you find any good brands! 🙂
When we did the ivf, I had few follicles above 18. I think maybe 2? Then a couple between 15-18 and a few 11s or 12s. They got six of them. I was surprised – didn’t expect the smaller ones to be able to be taken, and I was even more surprised when we found out the next day that all were mature. Five of the six fertilized naturally, too.
Anyway, all that to say your follicle may be small, but size isn’t always entirely predictive of its ability to be fertilized. Don’t lose hope!
Hey Heidi – I think it might be different for the IUI than the IVF because my doctor seems to be concerned about the size in terms of giving me a shot to rupture the follicles, if that makes sense.
And thank you so much for the encouragement! 🙂
Um. I don’t even know what the heck a follicle is!!!! Am I even a woman??
It’s ok – I didn’t know what follicles were before, either. :-*
Hi honey bunny! I am soooo excited about your follicle! One is indeed better than none. So we keep sending up our prayers. And yes, there is a patron saint for fertility. As for nutrition, you should spend some serious time with Judy. She is a huge fan of all things natural. Happy Anniversary tomorrow to my two honeys. Have a fun time celebrating!! xoxoxo
Hey Mom – thanks for the prayers. I know that God hears them, so thank you.
I will think about talking to Aunt Judy about it. I’m not sure how into it we are going to get.
Love ya,
Em
Following your updates and saying a prayer. Good is good and has a plan for you 🙂
Runblondie – thanks so much! I appreciate the prayers and the encouragement 🙂
